Tricare

If you or your spouse is active duty military and your child is diagnosed with autism he or she is eligible for the Tricare Extended Care Health Option (ECHO) program. This program provides up to 25 hours per month of Applied Behavior Analysis services from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Services include, but are not limited to, educational programming, social skills, parent training, behaviorally based tutoring and consultation. Idaho Autism Consultation is the only provider in the Treasure Valley to offer this service. Idaho Autism Consultation will submit claims for ABA services to Tricare and families are responsible for their pre-determined, monthly co-pay.

Who is eligible to receive services?
Benefits under the demonstration project are available to children of active duty Service members who are:

  1. At least 18 months of age
  2. Diagnosed by a Primary Care Provider or specialized autism spectrum disorder (ASD) provider with one of the following:
    • Autistic Disorder
    • Asperger’s Disorder
    • Childhood Disintegrative Disorder
    • Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS)
  3. Enrolled in their Service’s Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP)
  4. Registered (or in the process of registering) in TRICARE’s Extended Care Health Option (ECHO) program through TriWest. The PCP or ASD provider can refer a child to the ECHO program or the family can request registration by filling out TriWest’s Case Management Referral Form
  5. Authorized by the TriWest to receive care under the demonstration
